Supporting Harrodsburg since 1983.
The History of the Christian Life Center
The Christian Life Center was founded in 1983 by Richard Marrs who was the Pastor of the Harrodsburg Community Church, an outgrowth of a 1970’s interdenominational women’s prayer group representing many churches in the Harrodsburg/Mercer County area.
This interdenominational spirit to serve Christ by serving others led to the formation of the Christian Life Center and its outreach to those in crisis situations. The vision included prayer, counseling and coordination with local churches, businesses and existing government services. Food, clothing, job referral and limited financial assistance were additional services provided.
Along the way, the Christian Life Center joined forces with a used clothing store named Christ’s Closet. All profits from the clothing store were donated to the Christian Life Center until the entire business was donated, and continued to operate under the Christian Life Center name.
Over the years the CLC has received broad faithful support in the form of gifts, donations, volunteers, board members and leadership flowing from the community and its churches. Countless blessings and responsible actions have carried the Christian Life Center to its new home at 232 S. College Street.
